about us
Taking travellers to the Canton Fair since 2015
Michael Cornell is your tour guide extraordinaire. Mike is a natural people person, with the gift of the gab. He is a man with connections, and will help you make the most of your visit to the Canton Fair. He will help you link up with suppliers and make the ever-important personal connections.
If you looked up entrepreneur in the dictionary, you’d see a picture of Mike Cornell. He has had his finger in any number of successful pies, from property development to headstones to flower growing to importing, and more. He has project managed the development of tower blocks around Wellington, has lectured to MBA students and sat on the Dragon’s Den panel at Massey University. But ask him for his proudest achievement and he’ll tell you it’s his seven children.
Mike encompasses a blend of cultures, and is at home in any of them. He is well travelled and enjoys reading and modern jive dancing. He has a passion for learning, and for sharing his experience. Mike comes from a large family, the second youngest of 18 siblings. He says if you can cope with that, you can cope with anything!
Doing business can be a serious business, but Mike makes sure that while everyone has a successful time at the fair, everyone also has heaps of fun at the same time. You may go on the tour as a stranger, but you’ll come home as a friend.

Michelle Scarr is Mike’s partner in crime, and Camp Mother, looking after the organisational side of the tour from start to finish. Michelle’s other job is as an ambulance dispatcher, and her skills in managing, prioritising and decision-making come to the fore in her role as tour manager. Michelle makes sure that everything runs smoothly, that everyone is where they need to be when they need to be, and that Mike occasionally stops talking. She also carries the first aid kit…
Fish Lu is our Australia and New Zealand market representative, and the host of our new post-fair wellness extension in Guangzhou. Fish is an old hand at the Canton Fair, having visited more than a dozen times, and he brings hands-on experience in sourcing and importing. He is trilingual, speaking English, Cantonese and Mandarin, which is a real bonus if the jargon gets a bit tricky. Fish is here to support you before and during the Fair, and to help you develop sourcing and trading opportunities after the Fair.
